New Visitor Lot and new paid parking rules to follow
A Visitor Lot has been constructed on the west end of the Walsh Architecture parking lot, on the south side of campus (adjacent the Walsh School of Architecture construction site). During regular business hours (Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.), visitors must use a credit card to purchase a permit from the pay station located in that lot near pole #31. The permit must be displayed face up on the driver's side of the vehicle’s dashboard, so it is visible to parking enforcement staff.
No permit is required after 4:00 p.m., on weekends, or on holidays.
If the Visitor Lot reaches capacity, visitors must purchase a permit and then park in any non-reserved space within the Joyce, Compton, or Walsh Architecture Lots (C lots on the map)
The current rate schedule is:
- 1hr - Free (must obtain permit and display on dash)
- 2hrs - $1
- 3hrs - $2
- 4hrs - $3
- 4+hrs - $8

PURCHASE A PARKING PERMIT, PARK IN THE COMPTON LOT,
RIDE THE SHUTTLE BUS TO MCKENNA HALL
AND THEN A SHORT WALK TO THE MUSEUM (est. 15-20 minutes)
During the week from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. the south shuttle route (Baseball to McKenna) begins at the Compton Family Ice Arena shelter every 10 minutes and goes to the Eck Baseball Stadium, and ends at McKenna Hall on Notre Dame Avenue. Museum visitors then have a 5-8 minute walk from McKenna Hall to the Museum front entrance. (see route in gold on map below; click to download).
Additional Parking During the Week
Additional visitor parking is available at a somewhat greater distance from the Museum in the Eck Visitor Center/Bookstore parking lot. Enter campus via Notre Dame Avenue and access the parking lot by either turning left at the Main Gate house, or left at the next road. You can park there up to one hour free of charge.
Monday–Friday: Evening Event Parking
At 4:45 p.m. during the week the gates to the faculty/staff lots, such as the B Lot south of the stadium, are automatically lifted via a timing mechanism and you can park there for free. You can also park in any non-gated C lot free of charge after 4:00 pm. and on non-football game day weekends. The C lots closest to the Snite Museum are Walsh Architecture, Joyce and Compton.
Please call our main office (574) 631-5466 during the week if you or your guest cannot climb up the 2-3 steps to get on the campus shuttle bus, walk 5-10 minutes from McKenna Hall, or you or your guest use a motorized chair and need to be dropped off at the museum entrance. ON WEEKENDS call the museum security desk at (574) 631-4713 and ask for the code to get through the gate.
Our recommendation is to schedule your museum visit on a Saturday or Sunday so you can use the handicap parking spaces just to the east of the museum on Moose Krause Drive, after we provide you with a numeric code to pass through the gate located on the far east end of Moose Krause Circle/Courtney Lane, between the Joyce Center and the Rolfs Recreation Center. To get the code Monday through Friday call (574) 631-5466 and on weekends call (574) 631-4713.
THERE ARE A LIMITED NUMBER OF handicap parking spaces on Moose Krause Drive near the museum, so we cannot guarantee one will be available once you get through the gate at the far eastern end of the drive.
FRIENDS OF THE SNITE MUSEUM COMPLIMENTARY PARKING ON WEEKDAYS
Current members of the Friends of the Snite Museum who want to visit the museum or Charles B. Hayes Sculpture Park during the week may call the Friends Office to acquire a nine-digit code for use in the Visitor Lot Parking Pay Station. This code provides up to four hours of complimentary parking. The code is only for current members, and has an expiration date. So call to acquire the current code for that week/month.
